Ganga activist Prof. Agrawal dies of cardiac arrest; his dream remains unfulfilled

Environmentalist and save Ganga activist Professor G.D. Agrawal’s more than 100 days of fast-unto-death, resulted in a tragic end. He died of cardiac arrest at AIIMS Rishikesh on Thursday afternoon. The 86 year old activist left behind a legacy of steadfastness.
According to The Wire, to pressurize the central government, the former IIT Kanpur Professor, also known as Swami Gyanswaroop Sanand gave up even drinking water. He had been protesting against hydroelectric projects on River Ganga’s tributaries. He had also been demanding a law for the protection of the River Ganga.
